The festival is based on a pagan ritual of scaring the whatzits out of the bad spirits of the apple orchard to ensure an excellent crop of apples (and cider) for the following autumn. The crowds thoroughly embraced the theme by wassailing, singing raucously, and dressing up in pagan costume. An enormous bonfire, a stubborn burning man, story-telling, music, Morris dancers and amazing food and drink were enjoyed by all.
Jared and I had such a hoot getting muddy and shooting the event! I’m stoked to be able to share the highlights with you now.
